The trek takes you through beautiful villages, high-altitude deserts, and offers panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

The trek starts from Pokhara, the trekking hub in Nepal, and follows a scenic route through the Annapurna Conservation Area, passing through several traditional villages and monasteries. It ends at Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.

Jomsom Muktinath Trek Permits

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): Required for trekking in the Annapurna region.
  • Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card: Required for all trekkers in the Annapurna region.

Safety & Health Tips

  • Altitude Sickness: Muktinath sits at 3,710 meters, so take it slow and allow for acclimatization. Although the trek doesn’t go very high, it's essential to stay hydrated and take rest days if needed.
  • Weather: The weather in the Annapurna region can be unpredictable. Be prepared for fluctuating temperatures, especially at higher altitudes. Bring warm clothing, a waterproof jacket, and proper trekking boots.
  • Physical Preparation: While the trek is moderate, it's good to train for endurance, especially for the uphill sections. Some days involve long hours of walking, so being physically prepared will make the trek more enjoyable.

  • Travel Insurance: It’s recommended to have travel insurance that covers high-altitude trekking, emergency evacuation, and medical expenses.
  • Cash: Make sure to carry enough cash for the trek, as ATMs may not be available along the trail, especially in remote areas.
  • Flights to Pokhara: You can either fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara (about 25-30 minutes) or travel by bus (6-7 hours).

Day 1: Arrival

  • Arrive at Kathmandu Airport
  • Meet us at the airport, transfer to hotel.
  • Highlights: Walk around tourist market. Relax.

Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

  • Distance: 200 km drive (6-7 hours drive)
  • Highlights: Scenic drive to Pokhara. Boating at Phewa Lake. Visit Barahi Temple.

Day 3: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga

  • Distance: 42 km drive (1.5-2 hours) + 4-5 hours trek
  • Altitude: Tikhedhunga (1,570 meters)
  • Highlights: Scenic drive to Nayapul, followed by a trek through villages and terraced fields.
  • Trail: Follow the Modi Khola River, passing through Birethanti and ascending to Tikhedhunga.

Day 4: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

  • Distance: 6-7 hours trek
  • Altitude: Ghorepani (2,860 meters)
  • Highlights: Steep climb up the Ulleri Hill (3,700 stone steps), rhododendron forests, and views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
  • Trail: Ascend through lush forests and reach Ghorepani, a picturesque village.

Day 5: Hike to Poon Hill and Trek to Tatopani

  • Distance: 7-8 hours trek (including Poon Hill hike)
  • Altitude: Poon Hill (3,210 meters), Tatopani (1,190 meters)
  • Highlights: Sunrise views from Poon Hill (panoramic views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Machhapuchhre), followed by a descent to Tatopani.
  • Trail: Descend through forests and villages, ending at Tatopani, known for its natural hot springs.

Day 6: Trek from Tatopani to Ghasa

  • Distance: 5-6 hours trek
  • Altitude: Ghasa (2,010 meters)
  • Highlights: Walk along the Kali Gandaki River, the deepest gorge in the world, and pass through traditional Thakali villages.
  • Trail: Gradual ascent through terraced fields and forests.

Day 7: Trek from Ghasa to Marpha

  • Distance: 6-7 hours trek
  • Altitude: Marpha (2,670 meters)
  • Highlights: Enter the Mustang region, known for its apple orchards and Tibetan culture. Marpha is famous for its apple products.
  • Trail: Follow the Kali Gandaki River, passing through Larjung and Tukuche.

Day 8: Trek from Marpha to Kagbeni

  • Distance: 5-6 hours trek
  • Altitude: Kagbeni (2,800 meters)
  • Highlights: Explore the medieval village of Kagbeni, a gateway to Upper Mustang, with its unique Tibetan culture and architecture.
  • Trail: Walk along the riverbed and enjoy views of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri.

Day 9: Trek from Kagbeni to Muktinath

  • Distance: 5-6 hours trek
  • Altitude: Muktinath (3,800 meters)
  • Highlights: Visit the sacred Muktinath Temple, a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. The temple is surrounded by 108 water spouts and a natural gas flame.
  • Trail: Gradual ascent through arid landscapes with views of the Himalayas.

Day 10: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom

  • Distance: 5-6 hours trek
  • Altitude: Jomsom (2,720 meters)
  • Highlights: Descend to Jomsom, the administrative hub of the Mustang region. Enjoy the views of Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri.
  • Trail: Follow the Kali Gandaki River, passing through Jharkot and Eklebhatti.

Day 11: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara

  • Flight Duration: 20-25 minutes
  • Highlights: Scenic flight with views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Spend the rest of the day relaxing in Pokhara.
  • Note: Flights are weather-dependent; if canceled, you can drive back to Pokhara (8-10 hours).

Day 12: Drive or Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu

  • Drive Duration: 6-7 hours
  • Flight Duration: 25-30 minutes
  • Highlights: Return to Kathmandu, either by a scenic drive or a short flight.

Day 13: Departure

  • Free till departure
  • Drop to airport, fly back to home or onward destination.
